Create in Writer

Edit one live document with your Familiar and keep control of every change.

Writer is a co-creative app, not a reply box. You and your Familiar work on the same document — you can edit directly, review its changes, or both.

Create a document

  1. Open Apps and find Writer.
  2. Choose New document.
  3. Pick Workspace under Create in, enter a name, and create it.

Current Folder is also offered when Desktop has an active local folder open.

Open or import a document

  1. Open Artifacts.
  2. Choose Workspace for Server artifacts or Files for local ones.
  3. Search for the document and select it.
  4. Choose Open in Writer, or Import to Writer for a .docx file.

Work with your Familiar

Ask for a change, edit it yourself, or both — your Familiar always continues from the live artifact, never a stale pasted copy. Its edits arrive as reviewable changes you can accept or reject one at a time or as a batch.

Keep the work

Documents save to their OpenCircle location as you go — wait for Saved before closing. You can import a .docx into Writer, and export a saved Writer document back out as a Word file.
